The WECK Group, headquartered in Wehr-Öflingen in Baden-Württemberg, is a traditional manufacturer of glass containers for the food industry. For over 100 years, the family-run company, which currently employs over 350 people, has been developing and producing threadless jars for preserving and storing food using the preserving process. The company also produces other products such as candle jars and packaging jars for the food industry at its own factory in Bonn.

Since 1982, the group of companies has been managed by Eberhard Hackelsberger, the great-grandson of the company founder. Due to the lack of a succession solution within the family, the search for an external investor became necessary.
Challenge
As a result of the significant increase in raw material and energy costs due to the war in Ukraine and capital-intensive investments in the modernization of the glassworks, as well as a noticeable decline in consumer spending, the group of companies ran into financial difficulties in mid-2023. WINTERGERST's primary task was therefore to find a financially strong investor to support the Group on its future growth path.
Solution
Thanks to our financial and performance-related restructuring expertise, we were able to develop a sustainable business plan with attractive growth potential in the shortest possible time together with the management and the insolvency administration of the Weck Group. This future perspective enabled a competitive bidding process with several international strategic and financially-oriented interested parties, which ultimately led to a high level of satisfaction for the creditors.
